About ten years ago I came up with a song called “Lord of Misrule” which tried to express our excitement about the Arab Spring, the Occupy movement, and other such stuff. Yeah. In the UK of course we had our own attempt to translate that 2010 energy into a political party, through the accidental election of Jeremy Corbyn. And then we lived through 4 years of screaming cognitive horror as the establishment made sure that effort was crushed. It took a little longer than it took the police to crush the 2010 student uprising, but the effect is the same. And the lesson is: social change is not going to come about by an administrative error in the Labour party leadership election procedures.
Anyway this song is kind of a sequel to Lord of Misrule.
